INTEREST GROUP UPDATES
The Emergency Management Committee is collecting submissions for the Emergency Management Awards program. Winners will be recognized at the 2017 Operating Conference.

  • All entries must be submitted by May 10 to Jake Wagner
  • Focus of this year’s topic is “Effectiveness of a Company’s Response Efforts to Gas Emergencies.”

The Environmental Committee is seeking submissions for the Environmental Excellence Awards program. Categories for submittal include Stewardship, Partnership and Technology/Conservation. All entries are due to Ashlyn Smith by April 1.

Call for Papers for 2017 Gas Machinery Conference Now Open

You may submit an abstract for a short course (3 hours); technical paper presentation (45 minutes); or a new technology update (10 minutes).

Foundation Design and Repair Workshop

April 11-12 | Houston, TX 

The Foundation Design and Analysis & Existing Foundation Repair Workshop covers reciprocating compressor foundations through inception, design, installation, operation, failure and repair. 

Participants will learn:

  • An overview of foundation design and analysis methods for new installations for reciprocating compressors
  • Re-grouting, engineering considerations and repair procedures for existing foundations

Guidelines for High Speed Package Compressors Workshop

April 11-13 | Houston, TX 

This three-day workshop will provide end users/operators, engineering companies and packagers with procedures and references for selecting, specifying, procuring, designing, applying and operating large, high-speed reciprocating compressor packages.

It includes a comprehensive and detailed guideline for designing and building high-speed compressor packages that meet customer and equipment OEM specifications. Project management and planning, equipment installation and commissioning are also covered in detail.   

Compressor Station Vibration and the Impact on Cost, Performance & Reliability Workshop

April 11-13 | Houston, TX 

This class will provide attendees with the knowledge and tools to better identify, specify, address and resolve vibration issues affecting reciprocating compressors. The impact of equipment selection, operation and piping layout on pulsation, vibration and performance will also be discussed.

Attendees will actively participate in designing pulsation control and identifying support locations using tools provided by the presenters. An overview of torsional vibration and its impact on the design process will also be provided.    

Engine Emissions Stack Testing & Analyzer Workshop

April 19-21 | Pittsburgh, PA 

Co-sponsored by SGA and GMRC, the Engine Emissions Stack Testing & Analyzer Workshop provides an understanding and familiarity through live demonstrations, hands-on inspection of equipment, and lectures and group discussions of actual field testing experiences of the following: the processes and equipment for EPA stack testing methods and protocols; function and design of portable analyzer equipment; factors affecting accuracy and outcome of testing and other calculations and flow measurements required.

This workshop provides a comprehensive troubleshooting and problem-solving class covering the effects of operating conditions and control adjustments on engine combustion, plus detailed discussion around issues affecting the development and use of horsepower performance curves.

Introduction to Gas Turbines & Centrifugal Gas Compressors

June 6-7 | Nashville, TN 

A two-day seminar for Gas Turbine and Gas Compressor users who are interested acquiring an understanding of basic gas turbine and gas compressor working principles. The instructors are recognized experts in gas turbine and gas compressor aero-thermodynamics, rotor dynamics and application principles.

GMRC has been conducting this highly-rated workshop for the past 20+ years with the assistance of materials developed by Solar Turbines.    

Factors in Compressor Station Design

June 6-8 | Nashville, TN 

This 2½ day workshop provides engineers and design professionals information on how to design and integrate the various parts of a compressor station into an effective and efficient system. It will provide practical knowledge on how to design a new compressor station or evaluate the design of an existing compressor station.    

Engine Analyzer & Reliability Workshop

July 18-20 | Atlanta, GA 

This GMRC workshop is designed to meet the needs of analysts and engineers who are involved in predictive and preventive maintenance programs throughout the natural gas industry. Sessions and presentation ranging from basic to advanced will allow the analysts and engineers to take home information that is useful now.
