About SGA

Southern Gas Association has been a cornerstone of the natural gas industry for more than 100 years. Founded in 1908, SGA set out to concern itself with technical and sales issues, and to devise by common efforts, solutions to common problems within the natural gas industry. As the natural gas industry rapidly expanded over the past century, various issues have risen. Southern Gas Association has adapted and is a recognized leader in providing member companies with:

  • timely training, education and industry information
  • an open forum to share ideas and information
  • a forum for natural gas industry professionals to share best practices and hear case studies from other companies, thereby assisting member companies in maintaining a competitive edge in the 21st-Century energy market
  • a cost-effective vehicle for collaborative promotion of the increased use of natural gas

SGA works closely with its committees and interest groups to create and facilitate timely roundtables, conferences and seminars that address the business critical natural gas industry topics impacting our members. Through SGA Network, members can access additional natural gas training, education, and demonstration videos, seminars and conferences online and on-demand directly from their desktops.

SGA is well positioned to face the events and challenges of the future by combining talent and leadership from all segments of the industry and all levels of member company organizations. Southern Gas Association is dedicated to linking people, ideas and information.

Collaboration
SGA maintains long-term relationships with other natural gas organization, research institutes, and groups outside of the energy industry to provide our members with the most comprehensive information pertinent to the natural gas industry.

Regulatory Compliance
SGA and its committees focus on understanding and complying with the regulations that govern the way our members conduct business.

Education
SGA offers conferences, seminars, workshops, and broadcasts year-round that serve our members’ education, professional development, and training needs.

Marketing
SGA facilitates joint marketing efforts with member companies to promote the benefits of natural gas and encourage the ongoing development, improvement and use of natural gas equipment.

Virtual Training, Communication and Education
SGA uses the latest technology, including social networking, to connect and serve its members. With a growing need for distance training and education, the SGA Network provides instant access to training, education, and other valuable resources directly from members’ desktops.

Surveys
SGA conducts surveys on key industry issues to help our members make informed decisions. SGA surveys may be used for benchmarking, measuring trends, and making critical business decisions.

All activities are planned, managed and carried out by volunteers from member companies, assisted by SGA staff headquartered in Dallas. SGA is managed by a board of directors with jurisdiction over all affairs including policy, finances and activities permitted by the charter and bylaws. The association is divided into seven managing sections, each subdivided into committees.

Public Access to Documents
SGA’s audited financial statements, Board minutes, Form 990 and Board policies are available for public inspection in SGA’s Dallas headquarters at 3030 LBJ Freeway, Suite 1300. Anyone wishing to access the documents should contact Jane Butler at 972 620-4023 to arrange an appointment.
