Mission

The mission of the SGA Codes and Standards Committee is to encourage and support those codes, standards, legislation and other government measures which serve to provide safe, dependable, efficient and cost effective gas appliances and services to customers served by member companies. The SGA Committee is also actively involved with the American Gas Association's Building Energy Codes and Standards Committee (BECS).

The Committee maintains an active involvement with the following model codes and standards groups:

• International Code Council (ICC);
• Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI);
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI);
• National Fire Protection Association (NFPA);
• American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

SGA Codes and Standards Conference

This annual conference alternates between the Marketing Conferences and the Distribution Operating Conference. The meeting is designed to update codes and standards professionals on codes and standards issues. Codes and Standards Update Bulletins

The SGA Codes and Standards Committee periodically publishes and distributes to SGA member companies update bulletins relating to codes and standards issues and other issues of interest to member companies that are being monitored by the Committee.
