The SGA Management Conference provides an excellent opportunity for Associate Members to network with industry executives and decision makers, learn about key issues facing the gas industry and receive recognition for their participation in and support of SGA. Associate Members sponsor the “Welcome to Atlanta Reception", and co-sponsor General Session speakers and the Tuesday evening function.

Preliminary Speakers and Topics:

  • Associate Members Session: "Timing Is Everything"  - Tuesday April 22 10:30 - Noon

Guest Speaker:  Brian Beaulieu, Chief Economist, Institute for Trend Research (ITR)

In the last 12 months ITR has been invited to speak at over 200 events, reaching 5000 business executives.

Some of the topics that Brian will cover are:

  • Short-term and long-term economic forecasts (U.S. and /or abroad).
  • How those forecasts directly impact your company
  • What leading economic indicators we should be watching.
  • What about inflation and interest rates?
  • How China and India's growth impacts the US.
  • What impact the current or future Administration has on the economy.
  • Does the stock market give us a true reading of the economy?
  • See the future before your competition does!
  • Project Planning and Risk Management - (joint session with Transmission Operations ) Tuesday 1:30 - 2:45 pm.

Pipeline representatives and other participants from the manufacturer, contractor and distributor side will discuss mitigating risk in a project environment.  The panel discussion will last approximately 90 minutes.  Pipeline representatives will discuss the risk factors experienced during a typical pipeline project.  Each panel member will follow that discussion with steps they are taking to help mitigate this risk for the pipeline company. Attendees will be encouraged to ask questions based upon the discussion.

Potential risk areas are labor, material availability, land, Approved Manufacturer Lists, material specifications, design specifications, and other certification requirements.

  • Guest Speaker Jason Dorsey - The Gen Y Guy 

           "Loyalty @ Any Age: Retaining, Motivating and Developing Gen Y Employees"

  • Other roundtables will be open to associate members at designated times due to space considerations and topics of discussion.
