  • Safety should be consistent across company employees and contractor employees.
  • View contractors as “business partners”
  • Illinois Commission – requires accident reports monthly from contractors and utilities. We'll invite them to tell us why they collect these stats.
  • Best practices - Louisville Gas and Electric - "No Compromise" program  

              

Polling questions the moderator will ask the group to weigh in on:

  1. Does your company have a contractor safety program?
  2. Are you approving contractors based on their OSHA Incident Recordable rate?
  3. Is your company tracking the contractor injury rate (regularly) – if so, how often.
  4. Tracking lost workday rate?
  5. Holding regularly scheduled meetings with your contractors? 
  6. Are you doing safety audits on your contractors? 
  7. Can your employees correct or shut down a contractor for safety violations?
  8. Does your company do investigations of contractor injuries?
  9. Do you provide incentives to contractors for safety performance?
  10. Will you terminate a contractor based on safety performance? 
  11. Do you provide safety training for contractors?Do you require contractors to have a written safety program?
  12. Do you require contractors to report injuries immediately (2 hours)?
  13. Are contractors required to use the One Call system?
