Wrap-Up to the 2007 Workforce Planning Breakout Session Presentations from this Meeting: The Perfect Storm: The Future of Recruiting, Retention and Workforce Development - Jay Jamrog They Just Don't Make Boomers Anymore - Tom Trively
THE PERFECT STORM: THE FUTURE OF RECRUITING, RETENTION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Presenter: Jay J. Jamrog, Senior Vice President Research, Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp, Inc.) (Co-Sponsored by SGA Associate Members) Jay Jamrog believes that the war for talent was not a short-term phenomenon but the beginning of a true long-term change in the labor force. The combination of rising job dissatisfaction and demographic trends that predict labor shortages, skill deficits and fewer knowledge workers has all the elements for a storm that will cause dramatic changes in the way work is performed, who performs it and where, and the skill sets that will be needed. Mr. Jamrog will take a look at the challenges facing the natural gas industry in the areas of recruitment, retention and workforce development and what our member companies will need to do and how industry leaders can respond so that they can retain and engage their human capital.
THE LIGHTER SIDE OF WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT Presenter: Tom Trively, South Carolina Electric and Gas This presentation will focus on the lighter side of workforce planning and development. Attend this session to hear anectdotal evidence that sheds light on how various generations think and act. Tom Trively is a popular presenter at SGA meetings and this session promises to be both educational, and entertaining.
